On May 1 and 2 (public holidays), the fair will follow the weekend schedule, meaning it will be open from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The official opening ceremony is set for Thursday, April 24, at 6:00 PM, with guest speaker Juan Sasturain.

What Is the Buenos Aires International Book Fair?

If you’re not familiar with the Buenos Aires Book Fair, let me tell you—it’s a major cultural event organized by the Fundación El Libro and held annually in Buenos Aires. And as you might guess, the stars of the show are the books. The fair features hundreds of stands from big publishing houses, independent publishers, and bookstores.

But it’s not just about books! The fair also hosts a wide range of events, including talks, conferences, and workshops. Plus, it’s a hotspot for renowned authors, many of whom present their latest works.

The Buenos Aires Book Fair has been a one-of-a-kind cultural event since 1975. Every year, it returns with fresh energy to fill the city with culture, knowledge, literature, and art.

Where Is the Buenos Aires Book Fair Held?

In 2025, the fair will take place at Predio Ferial La Rural, located at Av. Sarmiento 2704, Buenos Aires.

You can get there by public transportation using the following bus lines: 10, 12, 15, 21, 29, 34, 36, 37, 39, 41, 55, 57, 59, 60, 67, 68, 93, 95, 111, 118, 160, 161, 188, and 197.

If you’re taking the metro, the closest station is Plaza Italia on Line D.

How Much Are Tickets for the 2025 Buenos Aires Book Fair?

Here’s the ticket pricing for the fair:

  • Monday to Thursday (except May 1st): $5,000 ARS (around $5 USD)
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Thursday, May 1st: $8,000 ARS (around $7.50 USD)

You can also buy a three-visit pass, which allows one person to visit the fair on three different days. This pass is non-transferable and costs $12,000 ARS (around $11.50 USD).

Tickets can be purchased online on the official website or at the fair’s ticket booths.

Buying a ticket to the Buenos Aires Book Fair comes with a few perks—you’ll get vouchers that can be used for purchases at the fair’s booths.

  • $5,000 ARS tickets include two $1,500 ARS vouchers and two $1,000 ARS vouchers.
  • $8,000 ARS tickets and three-visit passes include two $2,000 ARS vouchers, two $1,500 ARS vouchers, and two $1,000 ARS vouchers.

How Do These Vouchers Work?

You can use them to cover up to 10% of purchases of $10,000 ARS or more—and the best part? You can combine multiple vouchers in a single purchase.

On top of that, each ticket purchase comes with an $8,000 ARS “chequelibro”, which is basically a store credit that you can use at participating bookstores after the fair ends.

Important: If you buy your ticket online, you’ll need to visit the fair in person to claim your vouchers.

Free Entry to the Buenos Aires Book Fair

The Buenos Aires International Book Fair offers free admission to the following visitors:

  • Children under 12, whether they visit on their own or as part of a school group.
  • People with disabilities.
  • Teachers, upon presenting a pay stub as proof.
  • Retirees, students, and pensioners, but only Monday to Thursday (except May 1st). They must present valid documentation.

Additionally, Saturday, April 26, is “Night of the Fair”, a special event when the fair stays open late. From 8:00 PM onwards, entry is free for everyone!
